U.S. History/English 10 First semester covers early inhabitants of the America, the ERA of Discovery and the effects on indigenous peoples of the Americas; Early colonization of the Americas by Europeans and the struggle of those early immigrants for survival along with their eventual independence from colonial powers; the growth and expansion of the new United States; Manifest Destiny and the internal strife caused by the rapid growth and sectionalism. Events leading to the Civil War and the reconstruction after the Civil War.
Second semester covers the continued growth of the United States, both internally and externally. The United States as an Empire, and roles the U.S. played in World Wars, the emergent of the U.S. as a world power. The effects, both internally and externally on the citizens because of this new status; International conflicts the United States became involved in - These involvements include Spanish American War, WW1, WW2, Korea, Vietnam, and the war on Terror.
